December 19, 2012

Scott Griesbach, director of University Housing for University of Wisconsin-Stout, has been appointed UW-Stout executive director of Student Life Services.

Griesbach replaces Phil Lyons, who was named vice chancellor for Administrative and Student Life Services.

Scott GriesbachGriesbach will oversee the Campus Card office; University Centers, including the Memorial Student Center; University Dining; University Housing; and University Recreation. He will begin transitioning to his new role in January, working closely with Interim Executive Director Joe Krier and the SLS leadership team.

“Scott will provide the kind of visionary leadership and innovative approach that this role requires,” Lyons said. “The position has many facets to it, and I am convinced Scott will be able to help each office become even more effective, efficient and innovative.”

Griesbach joined UW-Stout as housing director in 1999, after holding various positions in housing departments at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Culver-Stockton College, Canton, Mo.; and UW-Whitewater.

"I am excited to continue my work at UW-Stout, leading the Student Life Services unit into our next chapter," Griesbach said. "We have a strong base of staff and programs in Student Life, and I am looking forward to learning more about the other departments and providing support to the directors of these fine departments."

Griesbach was instrumental in the design and construction of suite-style Red Cedar Hall, the remodeling of Hovlid and Fleming halls and the creation of University Housing's First Year Experience program for new students and the Next Experience program for upper-class students.

“Scott and his team of outstanding staff established an extremely positive residence-hall experience for UW-Stout students, earning campus and national awards for their efforts,” Lyons said.

Griesbach has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in marketing from UW-Oshkosh and a Master of Arts in higher education administration from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo.
