September 17, 2012

UW-Stout has been named a Military Friendly school for the third year in a row.

G.I. Jobs, a magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, today announced its 2012-13 Military Friendly list honoring the top 15 percent of 12,000 Veterans Administration-approved colleges, universities and trade schools that are “doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.”

Schools making the list offer scholarships, discounts, veterans clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who serve.

About 325 veterans are enrolled at UW-Stout, which has a veterans committee, a veterans club and an Army ROTC program. Also, there is a veterans Web page www.uwstout.edu/veterans.

Under one of the Web page’s tabs, veterans can find more than 80 types of military jobs matched with majors at UW-Stout, according to Pam Holsinger-Fuchs, executive director of Enrollment Services.

For more information about the list, go to the website or contact Holsinger-Fuchs, 715-232-2639, or Admissions 715-232-1232.
