Registration and Records office to receive state honor for excellence

February 26, 2014

The Registration and Records office at University of Wisconsin-Stout will be honored at the Thursday, March 6, meeting of the UW System Board of Regents with one of three Academic Staff Awards for Excellence.

"These award winners reflect the high caliber and dedication of our academic staff systemwide," said Regent Tracy Hribar, chair of the selection committee. "Their commitment to academic quality and student success is inspiring, and we are honored to recognize their wide-ranging and significant accomplishments on behalf of our students and campus communities."

"This award would not have been possible without the hardworking, dedicated staff in Registration and Records," said UW-Stout Registrar Scott Correll. "It is an honor to be commended for our efforts serving the university community and furthering the mission of UW-Stout."

Sorensen said the office is "committed to serving and meeting the needs of UW-Stout's diverse student base. They have responded to students' changing needs by revising processes and enhancing the services provided."

During the past three years, the office, in room 109 Bowman Hall, has undergone a complete transformation to better respond to the changing needs of students, graduates and the public:

The office provided consulting to a newly formed university in Azerbaijan on implementation of an integrated and relational student information system modeled after the new system at UW-Stout.

After enhancing services, the office earned two Models of Efficiency awards from University Business Magazine.

The other Academic Staff Award winners are Bonnie Isaacson, UW-Eau Claire Academic Affairs program assistant, and Ron Zimmerman, director of the UW-Stevens Point Schmeeckle Reserve. Each winner receives a $5,000 award for professional development to enhance his or her program or function.

Academic staff members and programs from each of the UW institutions were nominated for this year's awards.
