What is Audacity?

Audacity is a powerful, free audio program that can be used to create and edit audio files on your computer. Users may record live audio, convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CD's, change the speed or pitch of the recording, and more.

How is Audacity applied in learning environments?

Instructors may record lectures, interviews, or narration. Files can be distributed via Learn@UW (D2L), Blackboard Collaborate rooms, the web, or via CD.

Is Audacity supported by UW-Stout?

Yes! Audacity is minimally supported by UW-Stout. We offer tutorials and will provide 20-30 min. individual training sessions to instructors upon request. However, since Audacity is an open-source software program, technical support may be limited.
