Main Collection

Main Collection on 3rd Floor  Library materials are organized by the Library of Congress Classification System, an alphanumeric system.
  • Search the Stout Library Catalog to find an item and its call number.
  • Call numbers A-H are on 5th Floor;
    J-PR are on 4th Floor;
    PS-Z are on 3rd Floor.
  • Signs indicate the call numbers shelved in that stack; scan the QR code for help in locating items on the shelf.

Area Research Center

Archives  The University Archives and Area Research Center is the place to visit for old photographs, historic buildings, your ancestry, or historical background of UW-Stout and Menomonie in addition to Barron, Dunn or Pepin counties. Online indexes are available to search Stout publications and local cemeteries.

Ask the Archivist for assistance with this unique collection.

Group Study Rooms

Group Study  Two group study rooms are behind the third floor restrooms. 

  • Allows for collaborative learning and practicing for presentations.
  • Equipped with white boards, VCR and DVD players, and a computer with access to campus keyserver software.
  • There are also group study rooms on the first and fourth floors.
They are not for individual study.

Equipment Area

Scanner in the Equipment Area  Third floor has:
  • Equipment needed to use the library's media resources
  • General supplies such as paper cutters, scissors, staplers, etc.
  • Computer stations with access to the internet, campus keyserver software, and networked printing to the first floor.
