The 2017-2018 Stout University Foundation

scholarships have been awarded and the students

have been notified via mail or e-mail. 


In order to receive your award you must comply with the two requirements:

1.  Write a thank you letter to your donor and send a copy to Cindy Hangartner by August 4, 2017.  Refer to your award letter for addresses.

    2. Your attendance is mandatory at the scholarship reception, Thursday, September 14, 2017 in the Great Hall of the MSC.    

Information on reception:

  • Program starts at 7 p.m.- arrive by 6:30 p.m. to find your assigned seat. 
  • Your scholarship may be rescinded if you fail to attend the ceremony and have not been excused prior to the event. 
  • If you have an evening class that night, please let us know prior to the event and your instructor will be notified that you are to be excused to attend the awards ceremony.
  • Seating is limited so the reception is for students and their donors only.
  • In August look for an invitation/RSVP card in the mail with further details of the event. 
  • Return RSVP card by August 30, 2017

Professional attire is appropriate for the awards ceremony - dress like you would for an interview



General Overview

The Stout University Foundation sponsors scholarships for degree seeking undergraduate and graduate students through a highly competitive process. Foundation scholarships are financed by the contributions of alumni, friends, parents, faculty, campus organizations, other Stout staff, foundations and corporations. More than $650,000 is awarded annually for the benefit of UW-Stout students. There is always a need for more scholarships for UW-Stout students and permanent scholarship funds may be established in the Foundation through bequests or special gifts. All gifts to the Stout University Foundation are tax deductible.

Criteria for Selection

No single factor will be responsible for an applicant receiving a scholarship. Factors which are considered include: academic performance, letter of recommendation, professional activities, extracurricular activities, community involvement, written statements and, in many cases, financial need. Please note: To be considered for Foundation scholarships that specify financial need as a requirement, you should complete a FAFSA application by February 15, 2017, or as close to that date as possible.

Note: Both full-time and part-time students may apply. However, awards for students who are part-time (less than 12 credits for undergraduates and 6 credits for graduate students) will be prorated.

The Scholarship Committee will review applications and make the selections in the spring. Winners of scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year will be notified by e-mail or mail by April 14th. Scholarship recipients are required to write a letter of appreciation to the scholarship donors and attend a formal award ceremony in September before payment is made for tuition.
