Why am I interested in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences? I’m interested in this college because it houses my design degree. I’m very excited to graduate and be able to utilize the skills that I’ve learned here at UW- Stout and put my ideas into real world designs. A lot of other courses that I’ve taken fall under this college as well. I love Psychology and Sociology and learning about human interaction. Also the knowledge I’m gaining from the courses will help me in the future in my career as well.
Why are these great programs for students?
An advantage of a degree from UW-Stout is its hands on nature. The program pushes you to become a well-rounded student in all disciplines of art and design. I’m an Interior Design student and my degree allows me to take many studio classes to build my fine arts portfolio, many other universities don’t do that. With our smaller class sizes you really get to build a good relationship with your professors and they become mentors for you.
What would I recommend about these majors? One of the main reasons I chose Stout was our Art and Design program. Being a junior, I’ve gotten to know many of the professors in the Art department and they’ve all been excellent. What I would recommend is to take many different teachers throughout your college career because they all have different teaching styles and you learn so much from each of them.
