Who is eligible?

This program was created for students who plan to be or have dreams of being college-bound! The TRIO Talent Search program is available to individuals referred by teachers, parents, and counselors. The majority of individuals are eligible if they meet one or both of the following guidelines:
  • A potential first-generation college student (neither parent graduated from a four year college)
  • Limited income

Students are accepted into the program based on need. The program serves 680 students annually.

Students typically complete an application in 6th grade that spans their time in the program. Should your student be accepted into the program, you will be notified of their acceptance by mail. Because spaces in our program can become available during the school year, and because we intend to fill these spaces, we do not send letters to those not temporarily accepted into the program. Should you have a question about your student's status in the program, please call (715) 232-5010.

Are you new to the district or simply unaware of the Talent Search Program? If so, call (715) 232-1253 for an application.

UW-Stout's Educational Talent Search is a 100% federally funded TRIO Program serving 680+ students annually with $296,548 awarded in the 2015-2016 budget period.
