The main priority of the Counseling Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stout is its students and their continued care. The Counseling Center will continue to deliver free compassionate and confidential services, educational programs and resources for students.
However, in response to COVID-19 and the university’s transition to alternative learning methods, the center has modified its operations to provide services to students remotely.
“We want to assure students that we are here for them during this time and we strive to continue to provide services to students remotely to benefit their mental health and well-being,” said licensed counselor and Outreach Coordinator Samantha Hamann.
Caring for students’ well-being remotely
Upon returning from spring break on Monday, March 23, all in-person counseling services transitioned to 30-minute phone consultations using Microsoft Teams. Students with existing appointments were emailed to set up virtual consultations.
The Counseling Center encourages students to email their individual counselors or call to schedule a consultation. The center can be reached at 715-232-2468, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Crisis and emergency support
