University of Wisconsin - Stout

Faculty and instructors are issued a web folder for their home page and any instructional or personal materials. The folder is located in the /faculty/ folder on the web server and is the same name as your email username. The format for the web address is: http://faculty.uwstout.edu/email-username/. This is the address you should distribute to your students. When you upload your files to the web server, this location is noted as a folder: /faculty/email-username/.

There are two ways to create your home page at this address:

Non-technical (tempory for fall 2007): To complete your faculty profile, which generates and uploads your home page, you must log in to the e-Scholar portal from a wired connection in the lower level of Millennium Hall (Room 109--the Nakatani Center, or a faculty work station in Room 105) and follow the link to your profile (under your name in the upper right corner).

Edit the profile, adding any photographs, links and text. (See the animated tutorial for details about how to do this.) When you are finished, click on the link to upload your profile to the web site (Step 7). Your home page will be created, using a university template, and published to the web site. You can check it immediately, using the web address format above, and go back into the profile via the e-Scholar portal to make changes or edits if necessary. Remember to upload to the web every time or you will not see your changes.

Enterprise Information Systems staff are working on a new means for faculty to easily generate home pages. Watch the daily email, UW-STOUT TODAY, for announcements regarding this capability.

Skilled web authors: Create your instructor page. You may download the university templates and customize them using Dreamweaver with resources and instructions provided on this web site, or format as you choose in other web authoring software. Upload files to the web server, using these instructions:

Both: request to add your name and link to the web site. If you are new to the university, or you have not had an instructor home page before, send an email to Barbara Button (buttonb), requesting that your name be added to the listing at http://faculty.uwstout.edu. (We do this manually, so any other corrections or deletions should also be sent to Barb.) You should also notify your department secretary, so that your page will be linked from the faculty page on your department web site.
