Overview
News and Updates:
CommonSpot: The university has purchased CommonSpot, a campus-wide Web content management system (CMS). CommonSpot will allow non-technical people to maintain and update their portions of the Web site with ease, as well as create efficiencies for the coordination, management and administration of the site.
The UW-Stout Web site is published by Learning Technology Services, which provides the design, structure, navigation conventions and official content about the university.
Official content includes publications that describe the university as a whole or are used throughout the university, such as:
- Home page and top-level index pages
- General information about the university
- College, department and academic program sites
- Sites for special topics (Homecoming, Family Weekend, Web publications)
- Events site, guides, maps
- Directories, site index, topical lists and basic contact information
The university Web coordinator (Barbara Button; buttonb@uwstout.edu) provides overall coordination of design and content, site management, advice, technical support and consultation, as well as page templates, site graphics and navigation conventions.
The university editor (Don Steffen, Office of University Communications) publishes the following sections of the Web site:
- Graduate and Undergraduate Bulletins
- Degree programs
- Admissions office
- Student Handbook
- Facts About UW-Stout
- UW System-mandated reports
- Mission and Strategic Plan
- Sites for special initiatives
University departments or units who wish to publish additional information may do so in cooperation with the Web coordinator or the university editor and in accordance with the Web publishing standards.
