Special Events |
Intramural Sports sponsors numerous special events for student, faculty, and staff to participate in. Special events are a fun and informal way to get involved Intramural Sports. Here are some of the special events that intramural Sports offers:
Extramurals |
Extramurals are opportunities to play and compete with your Intramural team outside of UW-Stout. There are tournaments for a variety of sports held all over the country and University Recreation will sponsor Intramural teams that are interested in going to compete. In past years we have sent teams to St. Cloud State University to compete in an ice hockey tournament, NIRSA Flag Football tournament in Omaha, Nebraska, and to Middle Tennessee State University for an ACIS sponsored Basketball Tournament. There are 10-15 regional tournaments and one national tournament for flag football and basketball each year. Please contact the Intramural Sports Coordinator for more information.
Pick Em's |
Pick’em is a game provided by Intramural sports where participants are required to select the correct winners of sport activities. Participants earn points by selecting the winners of each game and points are accumulated until a final winner is crowned. Intramural Sports provides 2 opportunities to participate in Pick’em throughout the year:
NCAA Football Pick’em- This is a 10 week season with winner crowned every week as well as an overall winner at the end of the 10 weeks
NCAA March Madness Tournament Brackets- This takes place during the NCAA basketball tournament and one overall winner is named.
NIRSA |
NIRSA (National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association) is the primary organization for campus recreation. NIRSA is the leading resource for professional and student development, education, and research in collegiate recreational sports. NIRSA now includes nearly 4,000 highly trained professional, student and associate members throughout the United States, Canada and other countries. Serving an estimated 5.5 million students who regularly participate in campus recreational sports programs, NIRSA members are actively engaged in many areas of campus life: student leadership, development, and personnel management; wellness and fitness programs; intramural sports; sport clubs; recreation facility operations; outdoor recreation; informal recreation; and aquatic programs.
WIRSA |
WIRSA (Wisconsin Intramural-Recreational Sports Association) is the state version of NIRSA for Wisconsin. The Wisconsin State Workshop for Recreation Will be held at Marquette, October 12th- October 14th.
WIAA |
WIAA (Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association) is the governing body of High school sports for the State of Wisconsin. Intramural Sports at UW-Stout bases a majority of its rules and policies on those set forth by NFHS. If you are a student, faculty, or staff member interested in certifications in officiating, then you would use the WIAA to get nationally certified.
