The print manager purchases printed materials for all units at UW-Stout including receiving purchase requisitions, encumbering funds, writing the printing order to off-campus printing companies and approving payment upon receipt of an invoice.
Stout maintains a separate office for the purchase of printing apart from the Purchasing Office because the State of Wisconsin has statutes unique to the purchasing of printing. This makes print buying different from the purchase of other commodities. For example, all printing must be competitively bid regardless of dollar amount, credit card purchases are not allowed and preferences for minority business or sheltered workshops are not allowed. Also, the purchase of printing requires additional steps such as copy writing, editing and proofing.
All printed materials must conform to the UW-Stout Identity Standards. Compliance with the standards is checked as printing orders are processed.
Purchasing services of the printing manager are provided at no cost.
