UW-Stout operating budget figures announced
The 2005-06 operating budget for University of Wisconsin-Stout, totaling $107 million, was approved by the UW System Board of Regents. The budget bill must still be signed by the governor.
The budget contains $67.5 million in salaries and fringe benefits for the universityís budgeted 1,002 permanent employees and graduate assistantships. (View the economic impact this has in the Menomonie area.)
Other items in the budget include $25.5 million for services and supplies, $2 million for equipment, and $12 million for campus-based financial aid and debt service. The budget also includes a $1.5 million reduction to administrative and support units.
Diane Moen, UW-Stout's vice chancellor for Administrative and Student Life Services, said a full-time undergraduate student at UW-Stout will pay approximately $10,920 for tuition, fees, the e-Scholar program, and room and board during the 2005-06 academic year. Moen said that represents an overall increase of 7 percent from last year.
The budget covers the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2005 and ending June 30, 2006. UW-Stout is a "state-assisted" university with fewer than one-third of its funds provided from state tax dollars. The balance is funded by tuition, fees, gifts and grants.
