Fitness Assessment
Why have Fitness Assessments?
Low levels of cardiorespiratory fitness (below 20%) have been associated with an increased risk of premature death from all causes, and especially from cardiovascular diseases. Are you above or below the 20th percentile? A BMI of greater than 30 or less than 18 increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases: What is your BMI? If you are a female, between the age group of 30-39, and your upper body endurance is 27, the population norm classifies you as “excellent”: Where do you stand in comparison? Besides educating you about your health status relative to establish health related, age and sex matched standards, a fitness assessment also helps:
- To assess your current fitness level
- To Evaluate your progress
- To individualize exercise programs based on your strengths and weaknesses
- To classify according to your cardiovascular risk factors
- To motivate and to establish realistic goals
What does a Fitness Assessment measure?
- Blood Pressure & Resting Heart Rate
- BMI
- Posture
- Body Fat Percentage
- Cardiorespiratory Endurance
- Muscular Endurance
