The result of UW-Stout activities totals $344 million for the state’s economy and 7,200 jobs each year. In addition, UW-Stout’s presence in the state generates more than $18 million in state income and sales tax revenue annually.
Employees and Students
UW-Stout employees contribute to the bottom line in Dunn County by spending nearly $31 million directly in the county each year. Students attending the university spend approximately $61 million in Dunn County each year.
UW-Stout Visitors
UW-Stout attracts people from all over the world to Dunn County. People travel to the university to visit students and employees, attend athletic events, and conduct business with UW personnel. Visitors to UW-Stout related events spend almost $17 million in Dunn County on a yearly basis.
Beyond the Economy
Faculty and staff are engaged in the community as members of service clubs, active church members, and board members. They serve the city and county in political offices. Students also give back to the community, contributing more than 36,000 volunteer hours — the equivalent of $1.7 million worth of paid time — to local community services.
