External Communications

University Communications:

  • Serves as the main contact point for news media interactions with UW-Stout and works with the media to distribute news releases, story and feature tip sheets, videos and photography.
  • Works with the campus to provide “experts” when requested by the media and provides counsel to students, faculty and staff who interact with the media.
  • Distributes to the media notices of students who receive awards, receive diplomas or otherwise are honored by the university.

Finally, the executive director is designated as the main spokesperson for the university in the event of an emergency situation. 

 

Social Media

University Communications maintains the official university accounts on several social mediaplatforms. These platforms are excellent, low-cost ways for UW-Stout share news and events, and to promote faculty and student work.The office publishes social media guidelines to help campus users identify and assess potential issues related to the use of social and new media, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, FourSquare, personal websites (including blogs), and other platforms.
 
The office also provides assistance to university units interested in developing their own social media presence. This service includes setup, analytics and best-practices training, administrative support, branding, and collaboration in the form of social sharing.
