When working with Word 2007 one of the first things most users notice is the new font, size, and spacing of the default text.

Although the new default style of text in Word is a change, some users may want to set their own default font style and spacing. This is easy task to accomplish and the directions are listed below.

  1. While working in Word, select the more options button in the Font group. This can be found in the lower right hand corner of the Font group. font options
  2. Once the font dialogue box opens, you can choose the font, style, and size that is perferred. Once this is set, click the Default... button in the lower left hand corner.

  3. You will then be presented with a warning screen that states your font choice, choose yes and your default font will be applied the next time you open a new Word document. confirmation

Change default paragraph spacing

  1. When working in Word, select the more options button in the Paragraph group. This can be found in the lower right hand corner of the Paragraph group. paragraph options
  2. Once the paragraph dialogue box opens, you can choose the spacing options you prefer. If you are looking to create single spaced paragraphs, make sure you change both the line spacing and the after spacing. settings

  3. Once you have determined the correct settings, click the default button in the lower left hand corner of the dialogue box. paragraph default options

  4. You will then be presented with a warning screen that states you are changing the default spacing settings. Choose yes and your default spacing options will be applied the next time you open a new Word document confirm settings
