Winter 2008 Professional Development Week

The UW-Stout Teaching and Learning Center is hosting a variety of enriching sessions on January 16 & 17 including topics on teaching with technology, assessment, and engagement. More details, including facilitators of sessions, can be found here.

 

Spring 2007 Faculty Development Sessions

Spring Faculty Development sessions will be held generally on Friday afternoons starting on February 16th; the topic of Friday's discussion will be: Creating and Sustaining a Positive Learning Environment in Classrooms with Laptops.

 

UW-Stout hosts Lesson Study Training Workshop

UW-Stout will offer the Learning Study Workshop during January's Professional Development week, Thursday January 18, 2007 from 1 P.M.-4P.M. in the Northwoods Room at the Memorial Center. Lesson Study Training Workshop details.

 

Fall 2006 Wisconsin Teaching Fellows and Scholars

The UW OPID (Office of Professional and Instructional Development) sponsors the WTF/WTS initiative. Proposals were submitted in November. Announcement of recipients will occur in December. Applications and information on the program may be found at this page.

TLC Presented Showcase of Teaching Innovation, August 28

On August 28 18 presentations and 20 presenters collaborated to present our second Gala Showcase of Teaching Innovation. Using a round robin approach presenters talked for 15 minutes, then our referee, Mike Nicolai, blew the whistle and attendees moved to another presenter. Everyone learned a lot and had the fun of talking about teaching. View the Executive Summary of the 2006 GALA event.

The Digital Learning Environment – Using Laptops to Support Learning

Can students do more with their laptops besides take notes? This session focused on strategies to incorporate laptops into any teaching style, including groups and lectures.

Using Problem-Based Learning to Develop a Learner-Centered Class
Juli Taylor
Problem-based learning strategies focus on students taking responsibility for their own learning. This session explained the concept and gave practical advice for using this strategy.

Fall 2005 Showcase of Innovative Pedagogies

On August 29, 2005 UW-Stout teachers presented a showcase of innovative pedagogies. We used a 'round robin' type method in which small groups met with a presenter for 15 minutes, then moved on to another 15-minute presentation.
