The Instructional Resources Service office is where you check out textbooks. Rental textbooks are paid for through a segregated fee included in tuition, so there is no extra cost. UW-Stout has provided a rental system for instructional resources for over 120 years. Students are welcome to pick up their textbooks starting two weeks before classes begin each term.

**All textbooks are due back by the last day of finals each semester. **

Students who cannot make it to campus for any reason may return their textbooks by mail, but are responsible for all shipping costs. 

IRS provides textbooks, CD's, DVD's, article reprints, and many digital resources used for instruction in your courses. We do not provide one-time use materials such as lab manuals and most access code materials. You may purchase these items at the University Bookstore in the Memorial Student Center.

Where We're Located

IRS is on the second floor of the library. You can enter through the west entrance (facing the Voc Rehab Building) or by the stairs in the main library entrance BEFORE entering the main library.

After Hours Book Drop

A book drop is located on the west side of the library, facing the Vocational Rehabilitation Building. Please do NOT use the book drop by the main library entrance.

Student Resources/Forms

If you have confirmed with IRS staff that IRS is out of a certain textbook, you can fill out a "Student Textbook Shortage Request."
