Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible for services?
All students currently registered for class at UW-Stout are eligible for services. (Spouses, who are not students, and/or dependents of students are not eligible for Health Services care.)
What does the health fee pay for?
Health Service is funded primarily by the student health fee which is part of each student's tuition. Therefore, most office visits and lab work done within this clinic are at no cost. Additional fees may be charged for specific procedures based on complexity and severity, medication, and reference lab tests. Payments for such charges are payable at the time service or treatment is given.
Regardless of your medical insurance coverage, Student Health relies on you to settle your account. For your convenience, we accept Stout One, Visa/Mastercard, check, or cash as methods of payment. If other arrangements are needed, please talk to our staff prior to receiving service.
Most of our medical services are covered by the segregated fee/health fee which is part of your tuition bill. However, for select services/supplies, a nominal fee is charge.

Health records are confidential. No release of information is given without written consent and/or signed record release form from the student. This includes faculty, staff and parents. (Exception: subpoena)
What if I miss classes because of health problems?
Student Health Services does not routinely write excuses for any student missing class or work. We encourage ill/injured students to be responsible for their care and to communicate with their instructor(s) and employers(s) any condition or concern that may interfere with their class attendance or job.
If your illness/injury has you out of class for one week or more, please contact the Dean of Students Office at 232-1811.
Are students involved in decisions involving the Student Health Services?
We encourage input on the health services. The Student Health Advisory Committee is a group composed of students who advise the health service on planning, problem-solving and evaluation.
Interested students should contact the Student Senate Office, 232-2432
for applications.
