What is STEPS for Girls?

Science, Technology and Engineering Preview Summer (STEPS) at UW-Stout is a five-day introduction to the exciting world of science, technology and engineering. Campers participate in a variety of workshops that give them hands-on experience with high-tech equipment and processes. Outstanding professors from the engineering, technology and science programs at UW-Stout lead each session. Campers also enjoy recreational and developmental activities such as bowling, swimming, a pizza and karaoke party, and a ropes leadership/problem solving course.

Most of the activities during the week focus on analyzing, manufacturing and operating an obstacle-avoiding robot. Several hands-on sessions in science and math round out the activities. Campers also create multimedia content and write articles about their experiences to share with family and peers.

Please review the STEPS brochure for additional information

The camp is designed for girls between their 6th and 7th grades in school. Campers must have the consent of their parent or guardian to enroll. An interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) is a plus but not required.
