BLUE DEVILS PULL AWAY FROM SUPERIOR IN SECOND HALF

MENOMONIE
- After a nearly silent first half, Lindsey Erichsen (Jr, Spring Valley, Minn) and Sara Kahl (Sr, Menomonie) made some noise in the second half to lead UW-Stout to an 80-65 win over UW-Superior in Superior, Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Erichsen did not score and had no rebounds in only five minutes of work in the first half and Kahl had only two points and a single rebound. The Yellowjackets (7-13, 2-10) briefly took a lead midway through the first half, cutting away at a nine-point Stout lead, but a bucket by Jenny McDermid (Fr, Oconto) and two free throws by Liz Eldred (Fr, South Range) gave Stout the lead for good. Stout ran off to a 42-35 halftime lead and built as much as a 22 point second half lead.

Stout held a considerable advantage off the boards, pulling down 52 rebounds to Superior's 32.

The Yellowjackets got 22 points and nine rebounds from Heidi McKay and 17 points from Stephanie Janigo.

MENOMONIE
- After allowing three second period goals, UW-Stout recovered and worked their way to a 4-4 tie with St. Norbert College, Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

The Blue Devils took advantage of the power play again early into the third period when Todd Wynia (Fr, Minneapolis, Minn) scored 2:56 into the period. He was assisted by Dan Riffe (Sr, Byron, Ill) and Joe Schneider (Fr, Cottage Grove, Minn).

The Knights ran the score to 4-2 when Connor Hughes scored at 7:53.

Blue Devil goalie Jeff Dotson (Sr, Chanhassen, Minn) became a wall from thereon and Stout's offense came to life with five minutes left in the period to tie the game. Edin scored unassisted at the 15:05 mark and, 25 seconds later, Jeff DeFrancesca (Fr, Mt. Prospect, Ill) got the unassisted equalizer.

Dotson, who turned away 54 shots on the night, stopped six nearly point blank shots in the extra period. St. Norbert outshot Stout, 58-31.
