Bullying in Schools
EDUC 744 925 2 semester hours graduate credit
Instructors: Alfi Velasco-Hurst
Description: Issues, interventions and instructional strategies for creating a safe learning environment. Explore practical instructional strategies for breaking the cycle of bullying in schools, including the escalating problem of cyberbullying using e-mail, instant messaging, personal websites and cell phones to bully and harass peers. Each participant will walk away with a wealth of resources that are user friendly for classroom activities. Designed for elementary, middle school, and high school classroom teachers, guidance counselors, and school administrators. You may sign up individually or as a team and develop a building or district action plan to address local needs.

This online class is designed as asynchronous learning experiences – not a "live, at-the-same-time" televised broadcast. You may participate from your home or work computer during hours that are most convenient for you. The class is highly interactive with a significant discussion component.
