This course is designed for K-12 teachers and technical/community college instructors.
Develop effective teaching methods and instructional strategies that capitalize on students’ interest in technology and use that familiarity to improve students’ academic performance. Activities are designed using educational technology to meet learning goals in 21st century skills such as critical thinking; collaborative problem solving; life and career skills; information, media, and technology skills; as well as higher levels of achievement in core academic subjects.
Personalization, collaborative learning, and social software have produced and introduced new tools to promote idea sharing, collaborative, and creative explorations that can increase learner motivation and engagement. Explore how to improve instruction using web-based tools such as wikis, blogs, podcasts, photo sharing, virtual offices, simulation and digital game-based learning, and new emerging technologies.
This course is designed to help educators meet specific ISTE National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Wisconsin teaching standards.
Because this class is asynchronous and open to you 24/7, you may participate from your home or work computer during hours that are best for your work and family schedule. Instruction will be differentiated to accommodate learners with varying levels of technical knowledge.
The class is highly interactive with a significant discussion component. All projects/assignments will be presented via the WWW. Instructor/peer comments will be available through discussion groups.
