Becky Mather teaches Building Better Instruction with Technology and Workforce Development: Every Teacher’s Responsibility
Becky Mather is a former consultant with Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency in Bettendorf, Iowa. Her passion is developing and teaching both online and face-to-face technology workshops and courses for teachers.
Becky was an invited panelist on the Teacher Preparation and Professional Development panel for the November Virtual Schooling Symposium hosted by the North American Council for Online Learning. She served on the NACOL Research Committee Working Group that prepared the national and international issue brief addressing models for teacher preparation and professional development, reviewed standards for online teacher preparation and development, and provided background on the research, best practices, needs and challenges in preparing effective online professionals.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Library Science and Spanish from Morningside College and her M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa. Her career as a media specialist spans the elementary, junior high and senior high levels in Arkansas and Iowa, and she also served as district media coordinator, in Muscatine, Iowa.
Becky received the Microcomputer in the Media Center Award from Follett and The American Association of School Librarians after writing, receiving, and implementing a large grant to create an information access network in her high school media center. She subsequently published articles in School Library Journal, Technology Connection, and The Book Report. Her book, Creating a LAN in a School Library Media Center, was published by Greenwood.

Becky and her husband Mark have traveled extensively, and also participated in several medical mission trips to Haiti, Guatemala, and Mexico. They have three children: their oldest son is an attorney. He and his wife live in New Jersey. Their younger son is a student at the University of Iowa, and their daughter attends the University of Northern Iowa.
When she isn't working at her computer, Becky enjoys reading, writing,
scrapbooking, and relaxing at her family’s cabin on the Mississippi River.
