Ann Bell teaches two online courses, Digital Media and Visual Literacy and Implementing Educational Technology Innovations at University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Ann retired as high school media specialist at Camanche High School where she played an active role in designing a new school library media center facility and incorporating technology into the curriculum. Ann served on the district technology committee and helped design the district technology plan. Before coming to Camanche, Ann was a media specialist in Montana, Oregon and Guam.

Ann has written three books: Creating Digital Video in Your School; Handheld Computers in Schools and Media Centers, published by Linworth Publishers. and in 2009 completed Exploring Web 2.0: Second Generation Interactive Tools. She has also published 11 novels. Because of these writings, she was included in both print and online series of Contemporary Authors 2008 by Thomson Gale.

In 2007, Ann received a Top Online Educator recognition from Walter McKenzie's Surf Aquarium.

Ann was selected to attended the “Library of Congress 2006 Teacher Institute” in Washington, D.C.

Ann received the Informational Technology Pathfinder Award from the American Association of School Librarians and the Follett Software Company and was featured in Teacher/Librarian. She was the recipient of the IEMA (Iowa Educational Media Association) Lamplighter Award.

She was chairperson of the Iowa Educational Media Association's Student Media Festival for two years. She received a Star Schools Grant and a grant for an artist-in-residence from the Iowa Council of Arts. Ann presented “Utilizing the School Cybrarian” at the Iowa Consortium of Educators Conference and served on a North Central Accreditation Team in 2002.

Ann served on the AECT (Advancing the Educational Contributions of Technology) Project Expert Panel to help identify technology based teaching strategies. The AECT Project is a “catalyst” project funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s “Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to use Technology” (PT3) program to improve teacher preparation.

Ann presented “Advantages of Handheld Computers in the Media Center” at the joint conference Computers in Libraries/Internet@Schools- East in Washington, D.C. and "Digital Video Tips for the Classroom" at the Iowa Technology in Education" (ITEC) Convention.

Ann presented "Digital Video Tips and Techniques for the Classroom" at the 2005 National Educational Computing Convention (NECC) and "iPod and Handheld Computer Integration into the Curriculum"at 2007 NECC.

Ann was a recipient of the Media Action Research Grants which were designed to improve reading/writing achievement for students through the development and implementation of the Iowa Professional Development Model.

Ann received her B.A. degree from the University of Northern Iowa, a library media endorsement from the University of Montana, and a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Hawaii. She has completed postgraduate work at Drake University and the University of Northern Iowa.
