"As an experienced classroom teacher I found that taking online professional development courses was the most effective way to meet my needs. I became such an advocate that my goal was to become an online facilitator delivering professional development to working teachers.
The culminating practicum allowed me to put theory into practice under the guidance of a supportive, experienced mentor. Today I am working as an online facilitator, with the opportunity to live my professional dream, all thanks to the excellent education I received through UW-Stout."
~ Patricia Hutton, Online Facilitator
South Plainfield, New
"This is a 'MUST HAVE' course for any teacher or trainer that is interested in learning how to teach online. Dennis has a strong virtual presence and has made the course very interactive and relevant to my personal learning, as well as providing high quality, research based content and facilitating thought provoking discussions among the participants. I was always 'in the know' of how I was doing throughout the course due his timely and supportive feedback. For me, this course has set a new standard in online learning!"
~ Jen Hegna, Information Systems Manager
Byron, Minnesota
"I've really enjoyed the practicum, and in fact, all of the courses in the online teaching program. One of the things that has really struck me is the sense of camaraderie that develops in these classes between people who have never met before, face to face. I think this is very contrary to what most people think. They expect that an online class will be totally devoid of human interaction, and I'm thoroughly convinced that there is more... it's just not face to face. If I had it to do all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat."
~ Loren Rochester, Special Projects Manager/Training & Development
Madison, Wisconsin
"... Experiencing an online course from the vantage point of a learner offered me invaluable insight in course content, design, and establishing a community of learners. To foster successful online teaching, classroom management and teacher communication skills are paramount. "
~ Dianne Scott, English Department Chair
North Dakota Center for Distance Education
