Department Policy

Following are our procedures for assignment of Residence Hall parking permits.


  1. Continuing students (those who previously lived in a Res Hall)
  2. New students - including transfer students


  • Continuing students receive priority up to the due date on the application form e-mailed to their UW-Stout e-mail account..
  • New students (including transfer) receive priority up to the due date on the e-mail sent to their UW-Stout e-mail address during the summer.
  • All late applicants are entered into a lottery.  Permit allocation is via the lottery.
  • Additional permits, as they become available, will be announced thru an e-mail to the UW-Stout e-mail account.


The university has determined that class standing and previous residence hall occupancy will be the only criteria for permit allocation.  When fewer permits are available than demanded, permits will be issued based on an impartial lottery.  Needs-based criteria are not considered because the university's premise is that all parking requests are based on a legitimate need and should receive equal/impartial consideration.
