Housing New Student Permit Registration

Registration Instructions

First:  Verify that you're on the right page.  This page is ONLY for housing residents (you do live in a UW-Stout residence hall).

It is important that students read the brief instructions below.  Incomplete or misdirected applications may be discarded.

Registration Timeline

  • FALL SEMESTER
    • New student applications are accepted beginning in mid-June after an e-mail notice is sent to all new students.  If you register for school late you may not receive our first e-mail notice and should apply for parking as soon as you can.
    • New students should submit their registration by July 13.  After that time a permit assignment lottery will be performed.
    • Registrations are accepted after July 13.  If permits are still available after the lottery they are assigned on a "first-come" basis.  When permits are sold out new registrants are added to our waiting list.
  • SPRING SEMESTER
    • On-line registration is available through the end of the second week of January
    • Permits are available in the Parking Office for those who were not able to register on-line

A few key points

  1. You may only apply for a single parking permit for your own personal use.  Multiple applications may result in disqualification.  Permit-sharing arrangements should be noted in the form's comments section and every driver should be listed.  Registrations for the wrong status may result in your not receiving a permit.
  2. Every fall semester application received through July 13 is entered into the lottery and has an equal chance of receiving a permit.  After that time all remaining permits are offered on a "first come" basis.
  3. Complete, accurate information is important.  If you do not know any part of the requested information, explain in the comments section.
  4. The permit cost will be added to your student billing.
  5. All contacts after we receive your application will be to your UW-Stout e-mail account.
