UW System Applied Research Grant Program
This program encourages faculty to utilize their expertise and to apply their scholarship to support the economic development of Wisconsin; to improve connections between knowledge and practice.
It is anticipated that the Applied Research Grant program will be awarding approximately $425,000 to UW System faculty and/or academic staff from any UW institution for projects of no more than one year’s duration that address issues that would have a demonstrable impact on the state's economy. Potential projects could focus on fostering business development, improving efficiency and reducing costs. Proposals may be all academic disciplines including humanities, social sciences and liberal arts.
The new ARG-WiTAG program is funded through a $1,000,000 gift from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) to WiSys to advance research and development at UW System campuses. The ARG-WiTAG program is open to faculty and academic staff in science and technology fields for longer-term research (up to three years) to develop high-value intellectual property and/or marketable products, while laying the foundation for future extramural funding. Intellectual property created through the ARG-WiTAG program must be assigned to WiSys.
You are strongly encouraged to submit a short pre-proposal for both programs. These pre-proposals will enable applicants to receive feedback aimed at strengthening the longer, full proposals.
Please contact Research Services at extension 1126 for assistance in developing an Applied Research or ARG-WiTAG proposal.
