Research in the Rotunda

Open to undergraduate students who are Wisconsin residents, this event celebrates research dissemination at the State Capital in Madison. Outstanding undergraduate researchers from the entire UW-System gather to present research on important topics that influence that state’s priorities on topics like workforce and economic development. 

Each campus is limited to six poster submissions. Student researchers and their faculty advisors are encouraged to apply.

The 2017 event will be held on Wednesday April 12. Registration closes Jan. 23, 2017. Please contact the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs if you are interested in participating in this years event.

A Successful 2016 Event

This year's Posters in the Rotunda was a success with more than 20 legislators and numerous staff in attendance. View photos from this year's event.

National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)

The Council for Undergraduate Research hosts an annual national conference to support student learning an innovation through research. This year’s conference will be held on April 6-8, 2017 at the University of Memphis in Memphis, TN.

Abstract submission is open and the deadline in Dec 2, 2016. Abstract decision notifications will occur between Jan. 11-22, 2017. If you have, or plan to submit an abstract to NCUR please contact Angie Oaks at the Office of Research and Sponsored programs - oaksa7545@my.uwstout.edu.

UW-Stout offers travel allowances for students to attend. Students who are looking for the university to pay for travel must apply for an NCUR travel allowance. Please note: travel is not automatically paid with online abstract acceptance by the Council for Undergraduate Research. The average travel costs for this event are $650. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs in conjunction with the Stout Foundation will pay for much of the travel costs depending on amount of students going.

UW System Symposium

The UW System Symposium for Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity draws more than 600 participants. This years event at UW-Stevens Point was no exception. 11 Students from UW-STOUT presented their posters and oral presentations to a large contingent of Wisconsin's best researchers.

The 2017 UW-System Symposium will take place on April 21, 2017. Check back for more information on registration. UW-STOUT will be taking a bus on the afternoon of April 20, staying over one night, and attending the Symposium. Depending on the number of attendees the cost of this trip will be paid for by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and the Stout Foundation.
