What is the goal of the Journal?
A major goal this year is to get a more diverse group of departments and programs involved in the 6th edition of the Journal. Research articles can be submitted by any graduate or undergraduate student from any department on campus.
What are the benefits to students?
- Provides students with a competitive edge
- Provides students with the opportunity to share their work with a larger audience
- Allows students to demonstrate their work on collaborative projects
- Increases relationship building with faculty and peers
Who is part of the Journal?
The coordination of the Journal is a collaborative effort by the students. The students are involved in the printing and layout, cover design, and editing of the Journal. Funding for the Journal is provided through the Access to Learning Fee.
Why should students publish their research?
- Excellent Resume Builder: Publishing in a faculty reviewed journal
- National exposure via the online edition
- Opportunity for students to gain recognition for their research
How do I submit my article?
First, go to the Journal of Student Research Manuscript Preparation found at http://www.uwstout.edu/rs/man.shtml, and make sure your article is in APA and uses the same format as the template provided. The last page includes a Submissions Checklist; be sure you have satisfied all criteria before submitting, otherwise, your article may be sent back for immediate changes.

Remember to submit any figures (other than tables) separately using .tif, .eps, or photoshop files, NOT .jpeg. Save and submit figures in the original file format that it was created in (Such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or CorelDraw) and also keep the image in your MS Word file so we know where to place the high-quality file.

- The Writing Center tutors are “trained to assist you in any stage of the writing process- pre-writing, drafting, revising, and editing; however, tutors will not edit or write your paper for you.”
- Please bring with you to each tutorial:
- Two hard copies of your draft (please note: the Center does not have a printer)
- Your laptop
- A copy of the assignment sheet/ prompts for the paper you’re working on (In this case, you can print out a copy of the template)
- An idea of what you want to address and accomplish in the tutorial
