Research Services

Research Services provides information and support for grants, contracts, and research projects to faculty and students.

Our Services

  • Proposal Assistance and Budget Development: we assist in all areas of proposal and budget development, including editing and preparation of required forms.

  • Submission of proposals via the method required by the funding agency

  • IRB: we provide human subjects training and assist in designing IRB consent forms.

  • Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC): this committee monitors and regulates the use of instructional and research animals in order to prevent abuses of these animals.

  • Award Assistance: Once your proposal is funded, the account will be set up and an award conference will be held. We provide guidance on how to continue to ensure compliance with University and funding agency policies.

  • Contract Negotiations: We will assist in preparing and negotiating contracts and subcontracts.

  • Compliance Issues: We will assist you to ensure that all compliance issues have been satisfied.

  • Grantwriting Workshops: We offer general workshops on grant writing and mini-workshops on specific programs; general grant writing information is also available.

In our liaison activities, we monitor and contact governmental agencies regarding current programs and solicit information concerning future needs and directions in funded programs. The purpose is to identify support opportunities, and to stimulate interest with the University in these opportunities.

  • All proposals are presented to Research Services

  • We secure campus approval and signatures before proposals leave campus

  • After proposals are funded, we provide support as the projects are carried out

  • Our office also assists faculty who have been unsuccessful in obtaining support to strengthen the proposal for resubmission

  • Research Services is also the "principal agent" in negotiations between the University and all funding agencies
