The purpose of the UW-Stout Student Research Fund is to provide undergraduate and graduate students with funds to support research and the dissemination of research. Research is broadly defined as a systematic investigation designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge. This includes the creative pursuits that are characteristic of the arts and humanities. It is expected that this research will be conducted by a student or a group of students, with the guidance of a member of the faculty/academic staff of UW-Stout.
The timeline for submitting proposals to the Student Research Grant Fund has changed.
This
new grant cycle changes the submission deadline for proposals to a single date each semester. April 16, 2012 is
the deadline for Summer Semester grants. The project period for these grants can be anytime between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. However, 2012 Summer Semester grant expenditures must be invoiced prior to June 1, 2013.
Upcoming submission dates for 2012 for both Research and Dissemination grants are:
Request for Student Interview
The Student Research Grant Fund Committee may request to meet with the student(s) and advisor(s) prior to making a decision. If a meeting is required, Autumn Marquette of Research Services will contact the student(s) and advisor(s) to make arrangements.
Advisor Checklist Requirement
An Advisor Checklist has been added and requires the advisor to complete and sign. The form is then attached to the Proposal Checklist.
Just In Time Funds
Just In Time Funds (JIT) may be available (depending on budget) to support proposals for activities that arise outside the normal grant cycle. These proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis and must follow the established guidelines for traditional grants. JIT proposals are due to Research Services at least 6 weeks before the activity. Award notification will be prior to the proposal start date.
