Dissemination Grant Guidelines

Proposal Format

(12 point font; double spaced)

I. Application Cover Sheet

Complete the application cover sheet and include with your proposal.

II. Purpose/Need (1/2 page)

Describe the importance of the event and why the funding is needed. If this research project is part of a course, provide the course name, course number and instructor's name.

III. Objectives of the Project (1/2 page)

What benefits will you receive from presenting and attending this event?

IV. Summary of Research/Presentation of Findings (1 page)

Briefly summarize (a) what role you played in the research project, (b) the research findings, (c) if your paper/project has already been accepted to be presented, and (d) how do you plan to present your findings at the event.

V. Timeline

Please include highlights of the event and the dates of the event.

VI. Evaluation (1/2 page)

Describe how you will determine if your presentation was successful.

VII. Budget (1 page including narrative)

Grant awards will be made up to $500 for Dissemination Grants. Dissemination funds will help support publication costs and travel to meetings to present results of research already completed. The budget and expenditures must follow UW fiscal policies.

Provide detail and justification for each item requested. Itemize all expenses. Round all costs up to the nearest dollar. Do not use categories such as "Other" or "Miscellaneous." Include quantity (when appropriate) and the unit cost of each item. Travel, which must follow UW travel policies, includes transportation fares, lodging, and meals. List the point of origin, destination, mode of travel, and cost of each trip to be taken on the project. List the number of nights lodging, where the lodging will occur, and the cost. List the number of meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and the total cost of these meals. Provide a brief explanation of any unusual or out-of-the-ordinary expenses.

If you are supplementing this request with personal and/or other sources of funds, e.g., a grant obtained through your faculty mentor; identify these in the project budget. Provide the total budget with the funding sources identified.

VIII. Final Report

Students receiving a grant award will be required to submit a final report to Research Services (due 30 days after the end of the grant period). The final report should address how the objectives were met and how the funds were expended. Reports are to be sent to Research Services, 152 Voc. Rehab. Building, UW-Stout.
