For the UW-Stout Physics Department, research refers to activities directed toward the increase of knowledge related to the study of the natural world, its impacts on society, and the teaching and learning thereof.

Research may be theoretical, experimental, and/or applied.  Research activities can be conducted individually, with colleagues, and/or with students.

Dissemination can occur through journal articles, presentations at conferences, applications to industry and other venues, or through seminars and colloquia at UW-Stout and other institutions.

The UW-Stout Physics Department encourages and supports its faculty members to engage in research and scholarly activity as best suits each individual member of the department, consistent with available resources and time, and consistent with the needs and mission of the University.
