The Department of Psychology at UW-Stout offers academic degree programs and a variety of courses serving other academic degrees. Additionally, our students, faculty, and staff work together on a wide range of independent research and service both on and off campus.
Since 1966, B.A. in Psychology degrees have been conferred at UW-Stout. Starting in 2011, students started enrolling in the revised B.S. in Psychology. The student learning outcomes for both 120-credit programs are based on guidelines from the American Psychological Association.
The B.S. in Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary program that features courses from Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science, Philosophy, and Psychology. This program, the first of its kind in Wisconsin. prepares graduates to work in areas like human factors engineering, human/computer interaction, artificial intelligence design, market research analysis, neurological testing and product design, robotics, and web development.
The M.S. in Applied Psychology features three concentrations, with graduates of each enjoying a wide range of exciting careers.
The Department of Psychology also offers minors in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, Human Resource Management, and Workplace Diversity. The department's certificate programs include Evaluation Studies, Human Resource Management, and Workplace Diversity.
In addition to our degree programs, the Department of Psychology serves the university with a variety of general and professional courses. The majority of UW-Stout students take at least one psychology course each year.
