Instructions for Submitting Curriculum Items to CIC

All curricular items must flow through the Curriculum and Instruction Committee for approval, including new degree programs, new minors, specializations or concentrations, professional development certificates, new courses, and also any revisions or deletions of these items.  Submit 30 copies of each proposal to Tricia Aspen in the Provost's Office.

When preparing materials for submission, please note the following:

  1. All items are to be submitted to the Provost's Office. Submission deadlines are shown on the CIC Schedule. Contact Tricia Aspen in the Provost's Office if there are any questions.
  2. An item cannot be considered by the committee unless it has received necessary prior approvals, as specified in this handbook. The signature sheet shows that these prior approvals have been secured.
  3. When an item is included on the agenda for a particular meeting of the committee, the proposer or a substitute is expected to be at the meeting to explain and answer questions regarding the submission.
  4. The 30 copies submitted are for the Curriculum and Instruction Committee only. This does not include copies required for other approval bodies, such as AAAT (15 copies), Graduate Education Committee, General Education Committee, department/college councils, or UW System Administration. Electronic materials are accepted for many of these approval steps.  Contact the appropriate office for up to date information on electronic submission.
