The Professional Writing specialization addresses an area of critical importance – clearly communicating information. The program is intended for those who wish to gain professional writing skills to help them find employment, and those who wish to improve their writing skills to gain promotions or explore new career directions. Graduates of this program will be able to clarify technical concepts for a wide range of audiences, especially non-technical ones.

from the Undergraduate Bulletin. This specialization requires 18 credits (3 credits of required courses and 15 credits of selectives). No course may be used to fulfill two objectives. Prerequisites for all ENGL classes listed here are ENGL 101/102 or ENGL 111/112 or 113. ENGL 437 has the additional prerequisite of ENGL 415. All classes allow consent of instructor to function as a guide in prerequisites, so that students without the prerequisite but with obvious useful background could be allowed into the courses.
