Objectives

To develop an understanding of the vocational rehabilitation process and the role of rehabilitation counselors in assisting person’s with disabilities to reach their vocational potential.

To develop the ability to perform rehabilitation and independent living planning and case management tasks for persons with disabilities.

To develop the ability to facilitate client decision making through appropriate utilization of counseling techniques (career, vocational, personal and social).

To develop the ability to implement rehabilitation and independent living plans through utilizing community resources and performing job development activities in order to assist persons with disabilities to reach their vocational potential.

To acquire practical experience in rehabilitation counseling through practicum and internships at approved sites.
The on campus MSVR program with a concentration in rehabilitation counseling is a 48 credit program ideally designed for full-time students who want to complete their graduate degree in less than two years.
