How long will it take me to finish the program?
The minimum requirement is 30 graduate credits. If you need prerequisites additional credits will be required. The program is designed so that it may be completed in one year including summer school and WinTerm. However, many students take classes part-time while working and you may take longer.
How much does it cost?
Wisconsin and Minnesota residents planning to attend courses on the UW-Stout campus can view the current rates at http://www.uwstout.edu/stubus/undergradsch.html. For students attending courses at one of our off-campus cohort sites, current rates can be found at http://www.uwstout.edu/programs/mstd/cohort/billing.html. An application fee is charged by the Graduate School, some individual courses require special course fees, and there is a one-time graduation fee.
May I transfer credits into the program?
Yes, if the credits are from an accredited school, are masters level credits and are approved by the program director prior to your beginning the program, up to one half of your credits may be transfer credits.
May I take classes at other institutions and apply them to the program?
Yes. Again the classes must be taken at an accredited institution, be at the masters level and receive prior approval of the program director.
Can I work while I complete the program?
The classes are scheduled in the late afternoons and evenings. Many meet one night a week.
Weekend classes are available and online courses offer flexibility to working students. WinTerm, offered during January, allows a student to take credits in a compressed time period.
Are the classes offered off campus?
Yes. Classes are offered in several locations in the state. Some are also offered via the WWW and can be completed at your work or home. More classes are being added to on-line offerings.
What do I need to enter the program?
The Training and Development masters program requires you to have a foundation in training systems and organizational leadership through life experience or education. If you are lacking that foundational background you will need to take an undergraduate class in these areas. The program director will advise you in this area.
