Schlough: Hi, I’m Steve Schlough. I’m program director for the Master of  Science in Information and Communication Technologies. At UW-Stout we define Information and Communication Technologies in a fairly broad way. Most people think ICT is specifically digital media but we also do things with photography and digital photography. The program was originally designed for working professionals and because of this it can be completed online in addition we have a cohort of about ten students who are on campus taking classes on campus.  Some of the classes that are in the core are available only online so even if you are on campus you will be exposed to some online courses.

Klinner: Hi, my name is Jenna Klinner and I’m a student in the Master of Science in Information and Communication Technologies at UW-Stout. I think what’s really great about the faculty here is that they have a lot of experience in their field so they are able to provide you with a lot of knowledge and experience that you wouldn’t get anywhere else.

Schlough: The students in the program also come from a wide variety of work backgrounds. We have people who have graduated that work for super computer companies we have people that work for large corporations and networking.  We have people that are marketing business ed. teachers in high schools, people that are technical education teachers in high schools. We have people from tech college system that teach computer science, that teach ICT. So the background isn’t necessarily quite as important as the fact that you have a desire to work with current technologies and are interested in moving forward and getting some technical skills that you can define yourself.

Klinner: This program works really well with my communications degree and also works well with my background in technologies.

Schlough: In the E-commerce areas one of the things that’s unique that UW-Stout offers that we’re not just strictly digital media/web-based but we can do cross-channel marketing because we are associated with the printing industry as well as the IT industry.

Klinner: My career goal is to become a marketing comm. Manager in the advertising and marketing field. To do that, I need to get an entry-level position in an advertising or marketing firm. So to do that I’m taking a few different courses here one being web development which is really going to help me in my career and also publication production which is an on campus course where we get to create a magazine and that’s also really great experience for my career field.
