The American Dietetic Association (ADA) is an opportunity for nutritional science students. This is a coalition of 65,000 students and nutrition professionals. Annual meetings are held in September or October in a different state each year. Membership dues for students are $43 per year. The membership year starts in the beginning of June. Membership dues include monthly issues of the Journal of the American Dietetics Association (JADA) and the ADA Courier newsletter. Minnesota and Wisconsin have state affiliates that also meet once or twice a year. Scholarships are provided for student members.
Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) is an opportunity for food science students. The organization of 27,000 members publishes Food Technology and the Journal of Food Science and has the world's largest annual convention on food technology.
The American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) is an organization of members who are specialists in the use of cereal grains in foods. AACC International has been an innovative leader in gathering and disseminating scientific and technical information to professionals in the grain-based foods industry worldwide for more than 90 years.
The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) (3500+ members) is the premier research society dedicated to improving the quality of life through the science of nutrition. The Society fulfills its mission by fostering and enhancing research in animal/human nutrition and providing opportunities for sharing and disseminating nutrition research at its annual meeting or in its official publication, the Journal of Nutrition.
The Society of Nutrition Education (SNE) represents the unique professional interests of nutrition educators in the United States and worldwide. SNE provides forums for sharing innovative strategies for nutrition education, expressing a range of views on important issues, and disseminating research findings through the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior and its annual meeting. Members of SNE educate individuals, families, fellow professionals, and students, and influence policy makers about nutrition, food, and health.
