Admission requirements include a bachelors degree, minimum GPA of 3.0 and if English is a second language, an iBT TOEFL score of 61 (500 paper-based, 173 computer-based). The graduate record exam (GRE) is not required. Applicants with a grade point average lower than 3.0 are sometimes admitted on a probational basis.

- Foods/Food Science - 1 semester
- General Microbiology - 1 semester
- Human Anatomy and Physiology - 1 semester
- General Chemistry - 1 semester
- Organic Chemistry with laboratory - 1 semester
- Biochemistry - 1 semester
- Nutrition - 1 semester
- Advanced Nutrition or Advanced Foods or Experimental Foods - 1 semester
- Basic Statistics - 1 semester
Applicants with a grade point average lower than 3.0 may be admitted on a probational basis. While a deficiency in these requirements does not exclude admission, it may require completion of additional graduate or undergraduate work or increase the amount of graduate credits required to earn a degree.
