Award Criteria: Creative and critical analysis of women and/or gender
Applicants: Open to undergraduate and graduate students
Examples Include: Scholarly research papers, interviews, art works, design projects (graphic/film/multimedia), journalistic essays, analytical or statistical studies, fashion projects

Alyssa Quilling, a UW-Stout senior majoring in B.S. in Applied Social Science: Sociology and Anthropology, has been chosen to receive the 2013 Sheri Nero Award. Alyssa accepted this award at the UW-Stout Research Day award ceremony on April 30, 2013. We congratulate Alyssa for her work, "A Silent Killer: Maternal Health in a Globalized World."
Petra Mohr, a graduate student in UW-Stout's M.S. Technical and Professional Communication program, has been chosen to receive the 2012 Sheri Nero Award. Petra accepted this award at the UW-Stout Research Day award ceremony on April 24, 2012. We congratulate Petra for her work, "Feminist Practices in Editing: A Case Study of the Feminist Teacher Collective."
Dr. Maleka (Polly) Hashmi, UW-Stout assistant professor of biology, has been chosen to receive the 2013 Outstanding Woman of Color award. Polly will accept this award at the UW-System Women's Studies conference in October 2013. We congratulate Polly for her thoughtful and consistent efforts implementing diversity and advocacy-focused initiatives for women at UW-Stout and the community.
