This minor is available to master's students. Industrial hygiene is the applied science devoted to the recognition and control of health hazards in the workplace.
Admission: To be admitted to the minor, a student must be admitted to a master's degree program and must be accepted into the graduate studies minor in industrial hygiene (see the adviser). Students are expected to have had the equivalent of introductory safety (RC-581 Occupational Safety/Loss Control), but may fulfill the deficiency by taking the course while in the minor.
Minor Requirements: The minor requires completion of a minimum of six graduate credits (600 or 700 level courses) in industrial hygiene in addition to the credits required for their major. Students majoring in programs with no industrial hygiene course requirements must successfully complete the required courses and one selective course for a total of 7-8 credits. Students majoring in programs that require both CHEM-742 and CHEM-710 must successfully complete six selective credits not required in their major.
