Introduction
The minor in health and fitness education offers the background, content and strategies necessary for optimal teaching of Health Education in grades PK-12. The program is designed as an additional teaching certification that compliments the existing grade level of a teacherâs certification. This minor enhances the marketability of students in an education field. The minor includes classes that current teachers could use as professional development opportunities to broaden and improve their knowledge base and teaching skills in health education.
The overall program emphasizes behaviors that promote health and fitness, prevent disease and reduce health risks. Students will analyze the impact of culture, media technology and other factors related to health and fitness.
