Kevin Mason

Kevin became the program director for science education at UW-Stout in 2006. He is a 1992 graduate of Chippewa Falls High School in nearby Chippewa Falls, Wis. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1996. After graduating, he enrolled in the Master of Education degree program at the University of Minnesota where he became certified to teach middle school and high school science in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Kevin then returned to Chippewa Falls High School where he taught chemistry and physics from 1997–2001. In 2001, Kevin married his wife, Emily, and moved to Madison where he taught chemistry and physics at Middleton High School in Middleton, Wis., for two years. During his six years as a high school science teacher, Kevin also enjoyed coaching cross-country and track and field at both the middle school and high school level.

In the 2003–2004 school year, Kevin supervised student teachers in science education at UW-Madison and completed his coursework for his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in curriculum and instruction at at UW-Madison. He is currently conducting his dissertation research on the involvement of practicing teachers in teacher education.

Kevin and Emily have two children, a three year-old daughter named Haley and a two-year old son named Esubalew. He and his family live in Chippewa Falls, Wis.
