Students may enroll their freshman year as Pre-HRTM. Students may be admitted to the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management program upon the completion of the first year (minimum of 24 credits) with an overall cumulative GPA of 2.75 or greater and a minimum of four months of documented active involvement in a recognized Stout Student Association (SSA) organization. Recommended student organizations include:
If the cumulative GPA is below 2.75, students may continue to be enrolled as pre-HRTM and may reapply once their cumulative GPA is 2.75 or greater.
Students transferring into the HRTM program need a minimum of 24 credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and documented organization involvement. Organization involvement includes but is not limited to:
Transfer students that meet the GPA requirement but not organizational involvement criteria, may be admitted to the Pre-HRTM program and then meet the organizational involvement criteria during their first semester at UW-Stout. At that time, they may reapply for admission into the program.
Transfer students that have a 2.5 to 2.75 GPA may be considered for admission as Pre-HRTM. Admission into the HRTM program may be accomplished in two ways:
Receipt of a final college transcript from last post-secondary institution attended which now meets the minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA requirement;
At the end of a student's first semester at UW-Stout and upon completion of a minimum of 24 credits with a UW-Stout minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and a minimum of four months of documented active involvement in a recognized Stout Student Association (SSA) organization.
